2025 Online Course Design Bootcamp: Faculty Innovation Driving Student Success
The Center for Teaching and Learning proudly celebrates the success of its 2025 Online Course Design Bootcamp, a transformative initiative empowering 47 faculty members across 20 departments to redesign 49 courses for improved online learning. With an expected impact on 1,800 students in a single semester, the program exemplifies the School of Professional Studies’ commitment to its Students First mission.

The CTL played a central role, delivering more than 350 pages of tailored feedback to faculty participants. This hands-on guidance ensured that redesigned courses were engaging, accessible, and of the highest quality.

For faculty member Jason Karp, the Bootcamp proved to be a game-changer. “When I first received the invitation, I didn’t know what to expect,” Karp explained. “Professional development often has little direct impact on my teaching. But I could not have been more wrong about the Bootcamp.”
Karp shared how the experience provided step-by-step feedback on his own course, highlighting teaching strengths while suggesting practical improvements. He also benefited from a custom-built online course model, which inspired him to redevelop one of his classes entirely.
“The Bootcamp wasn’t just training—it was an objective, non-judgmental look at my teaching,” Karp said. “It gave me fresh excitement to meet today’s learners with updated tools and strategies in a fun, creative, and friendly setting.”
The program combined structured practice, reflective discussion, and collaboration with colleagues. Speakers introduced innovative technologies and data-driven approaches, further enriching the faculty’s experience.
