Video Quizzing
In online classes, students’ experience with course materials is often very static. They complete readings, write papers, complete quizzes, etc. Everything is based on reading and writing.
Videos are one way that you can provide a break from all that reading. However, videos can be a very passive learning experience for students. Besides ensuring that videos are to the point, as short as possible, and purposeful, adding video quizzing can help increase student engagement.
Using Kaltura, you can add multiple choice questions, true/false questions, open-ended questions, or a basic reflection point that emphasizes something students should think about before continuing with the video.
Scores on the quiz can be passed through to the Canvas gradebook, students can be allowed multiple attempts, and you can even lock down the video to prevent students from skipping forward.
Video quizzing can be added both to function as an activity/assessment for your course and something that ensures students are watching the materials you provide them.
