Senior Instructional Designer

Rachel Clark is a Senior Instructional Designer in the Center for Teaching and Learning. With more than 20 years in the UNC system, she specializes in partnering with academic leadership across a university ecosystem to lead successful scaling of high-demand online programs, including overseeing operational workflows, enrollment growth, and faculty-friendly, student-centered, quality course development. She has served as Director of Online Teaching and Learning at Appalachian State University and as an Instructional Technology Consultant to hundreds of faculty members throughout the pandemic. Prior to that, she spent more than a decade as Professional Writing faculty, always with evolving roles in online learning leadership. She holds an M.Ed. in English Education from the University of Georgia and an M.A. in English Literature and Professional Writing from Appalachian State University. She is a graduate of the Online Learning Consortium’s Institute for Emerging Leaders in Online Learning (IELOL) and is passionate about ensuring access to quality online experiences that meet the needs of learners at every stage of life.
