Leslie Russell, M.S.
Leslie Russell is an Instructional Designer and Technologist whose work focuses on the design and implementation of innovative, high-impact learning environments in higher education. At UNC Charlotte, she contributes to a multi-institutional, NSF-funded initiative in partnership with NC State University and North Carolina A&T State University to develop an AI-powered engineering course sequence that leverages adaptive and personalized learning.
Leslie brings extensive experience in instructional design, faculty development, and educational technology, with a particular emphasis on translating complex pedagogical goals into engaging, accessible learning experiences. Her work integrates emerging technologies—including generative and adaptive AI—into course design to enhance student success and support diverse learners.
Prior to joining UNC Charlotte, Leslie served as a program manager and instructional designer at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, where she led cross-functional initiatives in curriculum design, workforce development, and grant-funded educational innovation projects. Her work included developing AI-driven data science courses, designing faculty development programs, and supporting large-scale partnerships across academic and healthcare institutions.
Leslie holds a Master of Science in Learning Experience Design and Educational Technology and is a National Board Certified Teacher. She is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Outside of her professional and academic life, Leslie maintains a dedicated yoga practice and enjoys spending as much time as possible in the outdoors, especially surrounded by family and friends.
